Rising Rizin FF star Igor Tanabe has announced a temporary retirement from competitive martial arts following a diagnosis of moyamoya disease. The 24-year-old fighter will take time to recover and focus on his health, as the rare cerebrovascular disorder can lead to serious complications.

Known as “Fatninja,” Tanabe has compiled a 5-0 record since beginning his professional career in 2021, with his last three appearances — all first-round finishes — coming under the Rizin banner.
