Michigan Gov. Whitmer slams President Trump’s threats to withhold federal funding from her state as “ridiculous,” a “distraction” and “scary.”

"To have this kind of distraction is just ridiculous to be honest," the governor said."The threatening to take money away from a state that is hurting as bad as we are right now is just scary, and, I think, something that is unacceptable.”On Wednesday, Trump tweeted that he “will ask to hold up funding to Michigan if they want to go down this Voter Fraud path!”Trump said the move was done “illegally and without authorization from a rogue secretary of state.

Trump, who has been battling Whitmer for weeks over her restrictive stay-at-home order to limit the spread of the coronavirus, later walked back his comments, telling reporters he didn't think it would be necessary to withhold funding from Michigan.
