FATHER-IN-LAW TROUBLES
An FBI financial agent on Andrew's case alleged he had "devised and executed a fraudulent scheme" to avoid paying taxes and received "millions of dollars in sham loans" through his companies. The court documents list credit card purchases by Andrew and his family which included a $183,500 charge at a London jeweler, $150,000 spent on a down payment for a Rolls-Royce, and $100,000 to a Beverly Hills divorce attorney.The FBI financial agent declared there was "probable cause" that Andrew "engaged in the criminal conduct" including tax offenses, misrepresentations to investors and fraud offenses.
Douglas said in the statement: "These loans were completely legitimate and were independently reviewed and approved. In addition, Mr. Wiederhorn’s tax returns were prepared and approved by independent tax professionals and he has been making payments under a plan approved by the IRS."
