Sault Museum media club has been training and preparing pieces since February

To conclude a pilot project at the Sault Ste. Marie Museum’s growing media digitization studio and archive, an exhibition that highlights varied approaches to analog and digital media by local artists is set to open next week.

Among the work on display, there will be video installations, immersive and hand-held works, wall-based print and photography work, animations, digital illustrations, and multimedia collage. Reverb and Rewind is a grant-supported project that consisted of a series of workshops and open drop-in hours in the museum’s lab where community members could participate in various media art-making, digitization and archiving activities. The space and programming provide a unique opportunity for folks to explore the museum's recently acquired and growing collection of digital and analog technology and archives.

Since February, Reverb and Rewind has hosted 12 workshops and droppings and has welcomed more than 75 guests and participants. Workshops were instructed by local and regional artists and included video editing on tablets and smartphones taught by Rishi Sharma, and cyanotype printmaking taught by Tyler Mathson. The Reverb and Rewind exhibition will open during Fringe North 2024 in the Discovery Gallery on the museum’s second floor. The space is wheelchair accessible.
