Australians all across the country are increasingly being exposed to scams and new research has revealed which postcodes are being targeted the most.
New data collated by one of the big four banks has revealed which postcodes are the most scammed in country, with Australia ns urged to stay alert to any suspected fraudulent activity. Werribee in Melbourne’s west was ranked as the worst in the country for scams with a whopping 3030 reported between January 2022 and April of this year.
Gosford on the NSW Central Coast came in at number three on the list with 2250 reports, followed by Liverpool in Western Sydney with 2170. Many scams were reported in the Western Australia postcodes of Mandurah, Armadale, Hamilton Hill, Landsdale and Geraldton. According to Westpac, scammers may be targeting areas of relatively new economic activity such as fast-growing suburbs and almost one third of all cases were reported by 61–75-year-olds.“Our data shows scammers aren’t letting location limit what they do, with impacts seen in all corners of the country,” Mr Young said.
