A week after a costly act of vandalism, the Fredericton Public Library opened its doors to the public -- much to relief of community members including readers, parents and workers.
WATCH: The Fredericton Library has re-opened, one week after a vandal caused thousands of dollars in damages. Crews worked quickly to repair broken walls and clean up water, allowing residents to return to the beloved community space. Anna Mandin reports.Public Library . But she had a reason to smile — after being closed for over a week, its doors again opened to the public.open again. It’s such a wonderful resource that we have in our little town, our little city,” she said.
“It appeared originally to be worse than what it was. After the cleanup was done, it became evident to staff that they would be able to get it opened back up in relatively short order,” she said.“I’d like to understand what possessed them to do such a thing. It’s in my mind, it’s just unimaginable that someone would do that to the library,” he said.
“It’s just a great community resource, it’s just a source of social time for our kids as a stay-at-home parent. It’s free, the programs are free which means it’s accessible to everyone,” she said.
