SAN ANTONIO - A murder victim's canine, who was near being euthanized, was rescued at the last minute.off Vance Jackson Rd. near Interstate 10 on the North Side.
Police said when they arrived they found Carlos Portillo, 51, screaming and covered in blood. Officers asked who's blood was on him and Portillo said it was his wife's blood and that she was shot dead inside their apartment, according to the police report.Sheila-Jo had two dogs at the time of her death. One dogs was adopted immediately but another dog languished in the rescue shelter waiting for a new home.
Undeterred, Chelsey found another woman who offered to drive a 2-hour round trip to pick up and foster the dog until his new foster family could come and pick him up. Then after the second foster family took care of the dog for seven days, Many Paws Volunteer Transport Team jumped into action and set up a group of volunteers to get the dog up to Tammy in New Hampshire.I can't thank ALL involved, enough for their help," said Tammy on social media. "I don't think anyone will ever understand what this means to me.
