Key Senate Republicans have come out against temporarily replacing Sen. Dianne Feinstein on the Judiciary Committee, leaving Democrats in a predicament as several of President Biden's judicial nominees are held up in the confirmation process.

"I will vote against any attempt by Senate Democrats to temporarily replace Sen. Feinstein on the Judiciary Committee. I deeply respect Senator Feinstein, but this is an unprecedented request solely intended to appease those pushing for radical, activist judges," Tillis, who also sits on the committee,Centrist Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, said she too is against the swap. “She’s been an extraordinary senator, she's a friend of mine.

“She is obviously sensitive to the fact that her absence has an impact on the committee,” Durbin told reporters. “I’m not going to push her into any other decision. I think we can take care of this issue, do it very quickly and I hope we can find 10 Republicans who will join us in that effort.” Other Republicans have also spoken out against temporarily swapping Feinstein, including Sen. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., Sen. Deb Fischer, R-Neb., Sen. Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., and Sen. Joni Ernst, R-Iowa.

Asked if she supports a temporary swap, Ernst said:"No, I don't. We're not going to help the Democrats with that."
