Federal prosecutors in New York are launching an investigation into Rep.-elect George Santos after revelations that the incoming Republican congressman lied about key parts of his biography on the campaign trail, according to reports.
, Santos claimed he never said he was “Jewish,” but rather “Jew-ish.”
Santos also previously said he worked for Citigroup and Goldman Sachs, but neither company could find any records verifying that,There isn't just a federal investigation being launched into Santos. Local prosecutors have also said they will be looking into the congressman-elect. in a statement to USA TODAY said,"No one is above the law and if a crime was committed in this county, we will prosecute it.""The numerous fabrications and inconsistencies associated with Congressman-Elect Santos are nothing short of stunning," Donnelly said in the statement."The residents of Nassau County and other parts of the Third District must have an honest and accountable representative in Congress.
“New Yorkers deserve the truth and House Republicans deserve an opportunity to govern without this distraction,”
