Utah State is hiring former Montana State coach Danny Sprinkle to the same role, according to multiple reports. Sprinkle replaces Ryan Odom, who left for VCU two years into his contract in Logan.

Sprinkle, a former Montana State guard, will be the Bobcats' new head coach. Sprinkle replaces Brian Fish, whose contract was not renewed after Montana State went 65-92 over the past five seasons. Sprinkle graduated from Helena High School and played for the Bobcats from 1995 to 1999.

He spent six years on Bobby Braswell’s staff there, winning two conference championships. He briefly went back to Montana State for two seasons as an assistant from 2007-08, but then returned to Northridge for five more years. In 2019, Sprinkle was hired as Montana State’s head coach. Working at his alma mater, he won 81 games over the last four years and went to two NCAA Tournaments. This last season, Montana State lost to Kansas State 77-65 in the first round.USU made the NCAA Tournament for the first time in two years last month, losing quickly to Missouri in the first round. Two weeks later, Odom left to return to the east coast with three years remaining on his contract.
