Nwosu will likely start the year on injured reserve.
The good news for the Seattle Seahawks is that outside linebacker Uchenna Nwosu’s knee injury is not going to end his season. The bad news is he’s probably going to miss at least the first month. NFL insider Ian Rapoport wrote on Monday that Nwosu’s injury “will cause him to miss multiple weeks and make him a candidate to begin 2024 on injured reserve.” ESPN’s Adam Schefter says that Nwosu sprained his MCL, which could put him out for as long as six weeks.
Nwosu missed much of last year with a torn pec, which coincided with a major downturn in Seattle’s defensive performance. The Seahawks traded away veteran Darrell Taylor to the Chicago Bears, but effectively replaced him by acquiring Trevis Gipson from the Tennessee Titans earlier today. Derick Hall, Boye Mafe, Dre’Mont Jones, and Gipson will presumably be the quartet moving forward until Nwosu returns from injury. We’ll see if Seattle stashes a fifth OLB/EDGE in the form of UDFA Jamie Sheriff.
