Los Angeles FC star Carlos Vela will reportedly not take part in the MLS is Back Tournament.
Vela, who led the MLS in goals with 34 last season, will not be on LAFC’s charter flight to Florida on Monday as he has decided to remain at home with his pregnant wife, Saioa, and the couple’s three-year-old son, Romeo.
MLS players are allowed to opt out of the five-week tournament for health or family reasons. Vela is the highest-profile player to do so. Outbreaks of COVID-19 on FC Dallas and Nashville SC have made recent headlines as the league prepares to return to action in a state where COVID-19 cases
