Dave Joerger's time behind the bench of the Sacramento Kings could be coming to an end.
ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports that general manager Vlade Divac will meet with his 45-year-old coach later on Thursday and is"seriously weighing" firing Joerger after three seasons with the Kings. Vlade Divac is pushing to consolidate his power as Kings top basketball executive, seriously weighing dismissal of coach Dave Joerger, league sources tell ESPN. Divac/Joerger set for meeting today. Joerger led Kings young core to a 39 win season. He has a year left on deal.Joerger has one year remaining on a four-year contract signed in 2016 after Joerger's surprise dismissal by the Memphis Grizzlies.
The Kings have missed the playoffs for the past 13 seasons, but this season's 39 wins were the best mark put up by the club since 2006. A move to fire Joerger, Wojnarowski notes, would be seen as an attempt to consolidate power by Divac.
