Young, 22, led the Hawks to the Eastern Conference Final in his third season, averaging 25.3 points over 63 games last season and 28.8 points in 16 playoff games. The fifth-overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, Young has helped turn the Hawks from a 20 win team in 2019-20 to a 41 win team last season. He leads a core that includes fellow rising stars John Collins and Clint Capela.
After a surprising run to the third round of the playoffs, the Hawks will enter the 2021-22 season as a favourite in the Eastern Conference. Now that their main star is locked in long-term, the team can focus on rounding out the roster to become a consistent contender.
