It appears as though the UFC rematch between Daniel Cormier and former champion Stipe Miocic is on for this summer:

That’s because Cormier and former champion Stipe Miocic have verbally agreed to meet at a UFC pay-per-view event on Aug. 17 in Anaheim, Calif.,This report comes after WWE superstar and former UFC heavyweight kingpin Brock Lesnar informed UFC president Dana White that he doesn’t plan on returning to competitive mixed martial arts.

A fight between Cormier and Lesnar had been discussed ever since Cormier won the title at UFC 226 back in July. The UFC even invited Lesnar into the Octagon where he confronted Cormier. Lesnar, 41, last fought at UFC 200 in July 2016 when he defeated Mark Hunt via unanimous decision in a featured bout. That result, however, was eventually changed to a no-contest after it was revealed Lesnar failed one pre-fight and one post-fight drug test. He tested positive for the anti-estrogenic agent Hydroxy-clomiphene. He was fined $250,000 by the Nevada State Athletic Commission and retroactively suspended for one year.

Cormier has fought once since defeating Miocic, submitting Derrick Lewis in the second round of their UFC 230 headliner. Miocic hasn’t fought since being knocked out by Cormier late in the opening round of their first encounter.
