The St. Louis Cardinals are reportedly expected to name Oliver Marmol as the club's new manager on Monday.
Marmol has been the bench coach for the Cardinals since 2017. At 35 years old, Marmol will be the youngest manager in Major League Baseball.
As a player, Marmol was drafted in the sixth round during the 2007 MLB Draft. In 2011, Marmol became the hitting coach for the Gulf Coast League Cardinals, St. Louis' Rookie Level club. The Orlando, FL native was the manager of the Palm Beach Cardinals, St. Louis' Low-A affiliate, in 2015. The Cardinals finished with a 90-72 record in 2021, securing one of the two National League Wild Card spots.
