Canadian Andrew Nembhard will make more guaranteed money than any previous second-round pick from the collegiate ranks in his first three years in the NBA after signing with the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday, ESPN reports.
The rookie point guard, from Aurora, Ont., signed a four-year deal worth $8.6 million on Wednesday. The guaranteed $6.4 million for the first three years is the most ever for a second-round pick from the collegiate ranks.
The Pacers picked the six-foot-five Nembhard, a Gonzaga University product, 31st overall in this year’s NBA Draft. ESPN also says Nembhard will get more guaranteed money than those players picked Nos. 18-30 in the first round.He was a big part of the NCAA’s top-ranked team heading into the championship tournament last season, averaging 11.8 points and 5.8 assists., and avoid posting profanity, personal attacks or harassment.
