Astros and Justin Verlander reportedly agree on $66-million extension.
MLB Network’s Mark Feinsand first reported Verlander was nearing an agreement with Houston on Friday night.
The new contract adds two years year to his current deal, which was set to expire at the end of this season. Verlander, who joined Houston at the 2017 trade deadline, was 16-9 in 2018 with a 2.52 ERA and a league-best 0.902 WHIP. The 36-year-old finished second in the Cy Young race and 10th in MVP voting last season. He also played an important role in helping the Astros to their first-ever World Series in 2017.
