Work will keep MPs, senators out of permanent home until at least 2032
Canada’s Auditor-General says she largely approves of the multi-billion-dollar renovation of Parliament’s Hill Centre Block, although she says some decision-making around the project was “fragmented” and key decisions not made in a timely manner.
“We concluded that, so far, Public Services and Procurement Canada had effectively managed the scope and had put processes in place to effectively manage the cost and schedule of the Centre Block Rehabilitation Program,” Ms. Horgan wrote. “Discussions on key issues on user requirements continued to be undertaken separately by the House of Commons and the Senate of Canada,” says the report.
The Auditor-General recommended the public services department submits progress updates to the Commons and Senate speakers at least twice a year and the department agreed.
