Do you ever visit here for something to eat? Thanks to watfordmuseum for the picture
Plenty of readers will recognise the location of this week’s historical picture as the location of a pub, but for many years it was the site of a popular restaurant.is delighted to share photos from the Watford Museum archive and this week we look back at Chef Corner.
The museum’s volunteer archivist Christine Orchard said: “The Chef Corner restaurant was near to the pond, where Albert Road South meets the High Street. It was opened in the early 1950s and became popular with those visiting the cinema just across the road. “It was a little bit unusual having seating outside - a nice broad pavement was a luxury that most of Watford's High Street shops could only dream of!“I believe the family who owned the restaurant ran it for just over 30 years. Being so long established it must have been a perfect place to start a shopping spree.Watford Museum is open Thursday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm.
