Federal regulators are preparing to clamp down on a popular loan program used to finance solar panels and other energy-saving home improvements
The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau said Monday it is seeking public comments to prepare for a new regulation that would treat private lenders in a government-supported program known as Property Assessed Clean Energy much like traditional mortgage lenders.
