On Friday, Regina Provincial Court Judge Murray Hinds dismissed arguments that a former pandemic-related public health order was invalid. yqr covid

In his decision, Hinds did the same. He wrote judicial comity promotes legal certainty and predictability, along with preventing “endless litigation” on the same legal issues.Article content

Anderson had argued the earlier Moose Jaw decision was reached through carelessness or inadvertence — not by the judge but by herself and the Crown lawyer who argued that case. Hinds didn’t bite on this argument, and was unconvinced that the Moose Jaw decision would’ve been different, had the judge been given the case law Anderson felt was relevant.Article content

Given his own written decision on the matter, Hinds spent little court time Friday addressing the issue, and instead moved on to the matters at hand, which included a public health order violation charge faced by Regina area demonstrator Tamara Lavoie, which was meant to go to trial.
