A date in early February 2025 has been set for the Crystal Pool replacement project referendum for voters to weigh in.
has been set for Feb. 8 to ask voters whether the City of Victoria may borrow up to $168.9 million, and to ask for preferences between two possible locations for the new facility.
All voting places will be wheelchair accessible, and there will be an accessible voting machine at Crystal Garden. There is further assistance available to those who need it.Voters can also vote by mail by requesting a ballot starting on Jan. 6 either by completing an online form, calling 250-361-0571, or requesting one in person at city hall.
To be eligible to vote, you must be 18 years or older on general voting day, a Canadian citizen and resident of B.C. for at least six months. This option also comes with a lower borrowing cost of $162.2 million and has a shorter timeline to complete. It would also reduce the required excavation and tree loss. The south option would require borrowing $168.9 million and has a longer construction schedule.Trees would need to be removed, and several others would be at significant risk of damage due to the construction.
