These trees are going to dry out and become flammable before they eventually fall over and rot, which could take several years. Concerned citizens aren’t anti-forestry, and they want to have a conversation with representatives of Freeman “around what might be the opportunity costs of making another choice in the management of that piece of land," MacInnes Adams said. “The report also stressed we shift the emphasis to one that encourages more older forests of higher ecologic and economic value,” MacInnes Adams said. “We look forward to having conversations on how this small 250-acre woodlot might become a model that joins with our community in embracing this shift.”
“When I found out, I was outraged as this is such an irrational thing to do, and the government in Nova Scotia supports it,” Durnin said.
