Records fall as 'unseasonably hot' spring heat wave grips Vancouver Island
Posted: May 15, 2023 1:19PMThe “unseasonably hot” weather for Vancouver Island is expected to continue, though there will be a reprieve on Tuesday, according to Environment Canada.
On Monday, the temperatures are forecast to be in the high 20s or low 30s, with overnight lows in the mid-teens. Environment Canada is also warning of a higher risk of heat-related illnesses with the rise in temperatures. Over the weekend, Campbell River sizzled at 33.3°C while Comox wasn’t far behind at 31.9°C — the hottest day ever recorded in the month of May in that city, breaking the old record of 31.7 set on May 29, 1983.
