Darryl Kropp named BC Conservative candidate days after Reann Gasper announces intention to seek nomination
Published 9:49 am Monday, September 28, 2026The Conservative Party of B.C. named Darryl Kropp as its candidate for Abbotsford-Mission, days after former MLA Reann Gasper announced her intention to seek the BC Conservative nomination for the riding.
The Conservative Party of B.C. announced Darryl Kropp as its Abbotsford-Mission candidate for the Oct. 24 provincial election, days after former MLA Reann Gasper voiced her intention to seek the nomination. Gasper announced her intention to seek the Conservative Party of B.C. nomination for the riding in a video posted to social media on Thursday . In August, Gasper resigned as Abbotsford-Mission MLA to make way for former party leader Kerry-Lynne Findlay to run for the seat.
Gasper defeated the incumbent Pam Alexis in 2024 with 55 per cent of the vote. She was named the Conservative Party of B.C. deputy chief of staff after her resignation, and was later promoted to chief of staff after Chris Delaney resigned. Gasper’s resignation triggered a byelection, which was scheduled for Sept. 26. Advance voting already began when NDP leader David Eby dissolved the legislature, sending voters across the province to the polls on Oct. 24 and cancelling the byelection.
The election call came days after Findlay quit as Conservative leader. Findlay’s resignation followed weeks of turmoil, defections from caucus, and ultimately, calls from within for her to step down. B.C. Conservative interim leader Lorne Doerkson told media on last Tuesday that Findlay won’t be running under the banner moving forward.
Kropp, an executive at RedMane Technology, has been an Abbotsford resident for more than 25 years.
“His track record is built on fiscal responsibility, effective governance, and getting meaningful results for the people he serves,” the BC Conservatives said. He previously built a management system at Cascade Aerospace in Abbotsford, was elected to the board of First West Credit Union , and has served on the board of Northview Community Church for 17 years.
“From transforming operations at Cascade Aerospace to overseeing one of BC’s largest credit unions, Darryl Kropp knows how to manage money responsibly and get results,” the Conservatives said. Kropp joins three candidates from the cancelled Sept. 26 byelection on the Oct. 24 ballot – Pam Alexis of the BC NDP, Lakhwinder Jhaj of CentreBC, and Jeff Monds of the Libertarian Party of BC .
