Realtalk … What they don't tell you about running a race
Time for a little #realtalk. So you ran a race, good for you, now what? My first run was very anti-climactic, I trained hard, I crossed that line. A goal was completed that I never in my life imagined I could or would ever complete. Part of me expected fireworks and a band on playing just for me on the grandstand. But turns out I had very unrealistic expectations. There were no fireworks or band playing just for me, it was just over.
Once the training is done and the finish line has been crossed, then what? It happened in 2017 and again in 2018, though I must say, emotionally 2017 was the hardest.
I might have been able to mentally tell myself that my excuses were valid but physically, after not running from May to January, there was no denying I gave up! Physically my body reminded me every single day for the first three weeks that I had given up. Your body will always remind you when you’ve let it down.
