Small ‘ushabti’ figurines buried alongside deceased people in Turkey centuries ago suggest “long standing commercial and cultural relations” between Egypt and Anatolia

The shabti therefore acted as a surrogate in case their master’s mummy was damaged, guaranteeing his or her eternal life.
