SooToday received the following letter to the editor from reader Glenna Davey in response to the heavy snowfall in Sault Ste. Marie.
In view of the difficulty people who rely on public transportation still have to work, they have to get a ride, trudge through deep snow, and take risks climbing snowballs, a lot of businesses were cancelled, road traffic, was at a standstill, I believe the city should have closed everything down until roads were clear, and residents could get a lot of shovelling done.
It took hours for my husband to shovel, nobody came to his assistance, he is in his 70s. I was worried he would have a heart attack. The reports say another 25 centimetres are on the way, CLOSE EVERYTHING UP. If it's good enough for City Hall, the Library, and the fact that Police COLLISION centre were not open as weather was bad, closing at a time when there was a good chance for collisions, it would have been wise to completely close everything up.
