OTTAWA — RCMP Commissioner Michael Duheme is warning of widespread violence, homicides and a public security threat linked to agents of the Indian government.

A senior government official with knowledge of the situation says Canada has expelled six Indian diplomats, including the high commissioner, as a result.

RCMP took the extraordinary step of warning the public after confronting Indian government officials over the weekend. Duheme says the RCMP has charged"a significant number" of people with direct involvement in homicides, extortions and other criminal acts of violence over the past few years and is aware of more than a dozen threats to members of the south Asian community and the pro-Khalistan movement.New Delhi is rejecting the investigations, and calls the RCMP's claims preposterous.
