Kamloops RCMP is seeking charges against a driver who was involved in a crash that killed one and injured two members of the Thompson River University volleyball team, nearly one year after the incident occurred.

Kamloops RCMP is pursuing charges of driving without due care or attention nearly one year after a crash that injured two Thompson River University volleyball players and killed one of their teammates. The incident occurred on Nov. 29, 2023, when Owyn McInnis died after the Volkswagen he was in was struck by a Dodge Ram truck. Teammates Owen Waterhouse and Riley Brinnen suffered serious injuries. The driver of the truck was not impaired by drugs or alcohol. Supt.

Jeff Pelley expressed condolences to the victims, their families, and the community. The BC Prosecution Service has reviewed and determined that the crash supports a charge under section 144 of the Motor Vehicle Act. The charges have yet to be approved by the Crown
