The RCMP has increased its staffing at the Canada-US border by 35% in response to US President Donald Trump's threat of tariffs. Commissioner Mike Duheme confirmed the temporary redeployment of resources from other areas to address the border security priority. The move comes after Trump signed an executive order imposing tariffs on Canadian goods and energy.

RCMP staffing at the Canada-U.S. border has increased by 35 per cent compared to three weeks ago, according to Commissioner Mike Duheme.

Nearly…Duheme confirmed the 10,000 is a combination of Canada Border Services Agency and RCMP personnel. Provinces have also offered up officers to help in the effort, the commissioner added.
