The Rapids acquired Canadian international midfielder Mark-Anthony Kaye in a million-dollar deal with Los Angeles FC.
The Rapids sent LAFC US$1 million in general allocation money and a 2022 international roster slot, getting Kaye and a first-round pick in the 2022 MLS SuperDraft in return. LAFC will also receive additional general allocation money if Kaye reaches certain performance incentives."We're thrilled to welcome Mark-Anthony to the club and reinforce our midfield with a player of his quality," Rapids GM Padraig Smith said in a statement.
He played 79 regular-season and playoff games for LAFC, starting 72 of those. He was a 2019 MLS all-star selection. Kaye has two goals and six assists in 23 appearances for Canada. He and Stephen Eustaquio have been key midfielders for the Canadian men at the CONCACAF championship.
