The NYRangers have inked defender Adam Fox to an entry-level deal.
for a second-round pick in 2019 and a conditional third-round pick in 2020. The third-round pick becomes a second-round pick if Fox plays 30 games with the Rangers in 2019-20.
Carolina originally acquired the Jericho, N.Y. native from the Calgary Flames last summer in a blockbuster deal that sent Fox, Dougie Hamilton and Micheal Ferland to the Hurricanes, with Elias Lindholm and Noah Hanifin going back to Alberta. After it became clear that Fox wouldn’t sign with the Hurricanes, the club opted to move the defender to get something for him rather than lose him as a free agent.
The five-foot-11, 181-pound right-handed defenceman scored nine goals and 39 assists for 48 points in 33 games with Harvard in the NCAA this season and was named a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award, handed out annually to the best player in college hockey.Fox ends his college career with 116 points in 97 games.
