Randy Gregory is without a doubt the most intriguing unrestricted free agent on the Cowboys’ roster.
But the reality is he had six sacks in 12 games. That tied him for 56th in the NFL with guys like Jacksonville’s Dawuane Smoot, Denver’s Shelby Harris and John Franklin-Myers of the New York Jets. The 29-year-old earned $1.9 million last season, easily the most of his career. You have to remember he worked at Amazon for a while during his 2019 suspension to help provide for his wife and two children. He has not had the huge pay day that would theoretically set him up for life.
Giving him a longer deal might work, but it also locks the team in if he gets suspended or his career ends because of off-the-field issues.
