The news that Ram Trucks was discontinuing the TRX super truck for 2024 gave me the same sensation of dread that I felt as a kid and those first back-to-school ads came on the television. We all knew this day would come, but it didn’t help lessen the sting. The leading factor for the Ram 1500 TRX's extinction is failing to meet the new EPA standards, much to the shock of no one as this 702 horsepower 4x4 pickup truck that drinks fuel like a college student does beer on spring break.
However, you can just as easily stomp on the throttle like you're trying to put out a fire to get the thrill of an off-road-spec pickup truck sprinting from zero to 60 in under 5 seconds. This truck shines the brightest when accelerating anywhere between 30 mph to 90 mph. Whether it's needing to overtake a slow driver in the fast lane or trying to beat the yellow light, the sensation and soundtrack of its power are intoxicating.
