Air quality in Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal and several U.S. cities deteriorated considerably this week as forest fires continued to grow in Quebec and Ontario.
“We’ve seen this, especially for northern communities, remote communities, specifically a lot of Indigenous communities affected by smoke because of forest fires,” he said. “It’s just that the smoke didn’t, in the past, make its way down to where the population centres are.” “We have to remember that this is the season of wildfires and wildfires happen every year. And as long as there are wildfires, they will be producing smoke.”
