Forecasters say the Oceanside area could get up to 3 inches of rain while up to 1.5 inches fall in parts of San Diego and Imperial Beach
The Pacific storm that will move ashore Tuesday afternoon will be bigger than expected, dropping 2.5 to 3 inches of rain in parts of north coastal San Diego County.
Inland areas such as Escondido could get up to 2 inches, and possibly 1.5 inches could fall in parts of San Diego and Imperial Beach, the National Weather Service said. “This atmospheric river storm is stronger than the one we just had,” said Phil Gonsalves, a weather service forecaster.The system, like many before it this winter, is drawing lots of additional moisture from the subtropics.
Forecasters say the storm will move into the north coastal area of the county during the mid-afternoon then spread to the south and east. The heaviest rain is expected to fall from midnight to 4 a.m. Wednesday, and sporadic showers will last into Wednesday afternoon.
