Addendum G might end up being one of the most relevant — and complicated — parts of Jimmy Garoppolo’s contract with the Raiders.

The quarterback is still recovering from a fractured foot sustained in Week 13 of the 2022 season and the Raiders protected themselves because of it his contract.

The addendum starts by stating that Garoppolo “would not pass the Club’s physical examination” and therefore wouldn’t be able to sign a contract with the Raiders, where he reunited with former Patriots offensive coordinator — and now Las Vegas head coach — Josh McDaniels. There’s also reportedly a scenario where the team could cut him at any point without owing any money due to the lingering foot injury.

But if Garoppolo, 31, is on the Raiders’ 53-man roster two days after the 2023 season ends, then the addendum and waiver becomes “null and void,”Jimmy Garoppolo is sacked against the Dolphins during a Week 13 game in 2022, when he fractured his foot.the clause becomes void if Garoppolo becomes active for one 2023 regular-season game, passes a physical and doesn’t reinjure that left foot — though that portion wasn’t included in the screenshot of the revealed clause.

The fracture in his left foot, which caused Garoppolo to have surgery, he “will be at an increased risk of further injury” if he continues playing. The addendum listed that as some of the possible complications, including “permanent disability,” “loss of motion” and surgery.
