After flooding wiped out Brisbane’s ferry terminals, they are being progressively reopened.
Three more of Brisbane’s 21 ferry terminals damaged in the February flood will reopen on Thursday.
New Farm’s Sydney Street terminal, Kangaroo Point’s Holman Street terminal and the University of Queensland terminal at Gardens Point all resume services on Thursday morning. QUT, New Farm and Kangaroo Point ferry terminals will reopen on Thursday, while all but two will reopen before Christmas.“This was one of the worst floods Brisbane has ever experienced, with record-breaking rainfall and river, creek and overland flow flooding right across the city,” lord mayor Adrian Schrinner said.
“All of our 21 terminals were damaged by the ferocity of the Brisbane River and huge amounts of debris. Also, three additional terminals – Milton, the Maritime Museum and the UQ St Lucia ferry stop at the end of the CityCat run – were “on track” to open before Christmas. More than 90 per cent of Brisbane’s ferry and CityCat terminals would be repaired by Christmas, the lord mayor said.
