The Quinte Regional Science and Technology Fair sent the following press release as it returns as an in-person event. The Quinte Regional Science and Technology Fair will be an in-person event at Loyalist College on April 15, 2023.

All schools in the Hastings and Prince Edward Counties have been contacted and support provided where requested. Registration is now open. Please check out the registration section of our website. . There is a great deal of helpful information on our website – ideas, instructional models, “how to” do a science project and more. The development of a science project encourages students to explore science, exercise complex thinking, prepare oral presentations and enhance communication skills. Then at the fair students can demonstrate their understanding of scientific concepts and principles while explaining their projects to the judges and the public. The judges every year look forward to interacting with the students and listening to their presentations. The QRSTF can be an exciting and rewarding experience for students. They get to explore an area of personal interest. They get much positive feedback from the judges. Many receive prizes and awards. In excess of $12 000 is handed out! The top five students in grades 7 to 12 earn an all-expenses paid trip to the Canada Wide Science Fair in Edmonton. They will compete along with 500 others for almost a million in prizes and scholarships. Come and support our aspiring young scientists. Previously, a variety of topics including projects suggesting ways of using renewable energy sources, methods of combating diseases, ways of improving healthcare and engineering solutions to microplastic pollution have been on display. The awards ceremony will be held in the Automotive Centre at 3:30 pm. Science fairs require a lot of dedicated volunteers. The QRSTF committee hopes that you will join us in supporting the students of the Quinte area who eagerly await to share their research. The most basic way an adult can help is by mentoring a child while they complete a project!
