A quick\u002Dthinking Ottawa Fire Services rescue team outwitted a panicked deer that had crashed through the ice on the Ottawa River on Saturday morning.

“The deer still got scared as we approached, but self-rescued itself onto the solid ice as opposed to open water, & ran to shore,” the fire service said in a Twitter message.
