According to police, Gilbert Augustin was charged in the murder of Jasmer Singh following their altercation on the Van Wyck Expressway in Queens.
man has died after a motorist attacked him in a road rage incident involving a car accident on the Van Wyck Expressway.According to the nonprofit, when 66-year-old Jasmer Singh sought to involve police in mediating the accident, the other driver became violent.
Police said Singh and his attacker became "involved in a physical altercation" where Singh was critically injured and later transferred to Jamaica Hospital. He died the next day. "Jasmer Singh loved his city and deserved so much more than his tragic death," New York City Mayor Eric Adams tweeted. "On behalf of all New Yorkers, I want our Sikh community to know you have more than our condolences. You have our sacred vow that we reject the hatred that took this innocent life, and we will protect you."Augustin was charged with manslaughter, assault, aggravated unlicensed operator and leaving the scene of an accident.
