Stunt driver clocked at 148 km/h

SHUNIAH, Ont. – A 72-year-old motorist from Quebec faces a stunt driving charge after being clocked at nearly 150 km/h on Highway 11-17 in the Shuniah area.

The driver was stopped around 1 p.m. on Saturday over the long weekend by OPP officers from the Thunder Bay OPP detachment who were conducting radar enforcement in Shuniah Township.The driver, from Wentworth, Que., was charged with one count of Perform Stunt - Excessive Speed. The accused also received a 30-day licence suspension and a 14-day vehicle impoundment. The driver is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay at a later date, police said.
