The High\u002DFrequency Rail project is one that Via has been championing for several years, and aims to build dedicated tracks within the Quebec City\u002DToronto corridor.

While Alghabra said the plan was for the train to be emissions neutral, he did not say whether the tracks would be electrified. Garneau confirmed that the dedicated tracks would be electrified, and added that the new fleet of trains currently being delivered have the option of running as bi-mode trains, meaning they will be compatible with the new network, as they can also run on electricity.
