Daniel Barrette-Lapierre says some of his best childhood memories happened on the island.
Two brothers are hoping to sell a small island on the Magdalen Islands they inherited from their father a decade ago. Their hope is that the future owner preserves the small island's essence and beauty.CBC NewsDaniel Barrette-Lapierre says some of his best childhood memories happened on the island, which may have got its name because of its resemblance to a body lying supine.
"It was my father's childhood dream to own an island — a bit like a treasure island," said Daniel Barrette-Lapierre, now one of the island's co-owners. Its owners say it's difficult to know the island's true market value. Barrette-Lapierre believes it's illegal to build any permanent structures on the island but says a temporary structure might be allowed. Even then, he says, it's not ideal.
In a statement, a spokesperson for the nature conservancy confirmed that it has begun talks with the owners.
