At hearings Monday of the Senate committee on official languages on Bill C-13, to update Canada’s Official Languages Act, members of a Quebec anglophone rights group, including former senator Joan Fraser, called for removal from the bill of a reference to Quebec’s Charter of the French Language.Bill C-13 was adopted in the House of Commons on May 15 by a vote of 301 for to one vote against. All parties in the House were in favour of the bill.
