Ottawa acquired Darkangelo at the trade deadline last season.
On Wednesday, PWHL Ottawa announced it has re-signed forward Shiann Darkangelo to a one-year contract.. “On top of being a leader, she has good size and she has this element of physicality. We liked what we saw from her last year. We are excited to integrate her even more this season.”
Darkangelo played the final seven games with her new team, playing every game in the regular season. The 30-year-old registered just one assist coming while she was with Boston against Minnesota on Jan. 27. She ended up with a plus/minus of -6. The 2023-24 campaign was the ninth professional season for the former Quinnipiac standout. Darkangelo broke into the pro ranks in the Premier Hockey Federation–formerly the National Women’s Hockey League–with the Connecticut Whale in 2015. She made stops with the Kunlun Red Star and Toronto Furies , one season on the PWHPA Dream Gap Tour, and the Buffalo Beauts and Toronto Six . Darkangelo was the captain for three seasons with the Six, leading the team to win the final Isobel Cup in 2023.
