A U.S.-based think tank reported on Tuesday that the Russian Ministry of Defense is likely attempting to replace Wagner forces with its own troops near the city of Bakhmut in order to claim victory for its own military operation.
According to Colonel Yevhen Yerin, head of the Ukrainian Press Center of the Defense Forces of the Tavrisk Direction, Putin's military has been conducting"unspecified force rotations" out of the Kherson region, and seems to be replacing its troops with Wagner mercenaries, reported the ISW., a longtime ally of Putin, has recently clashed with the MoD over credit for Russia's advances around the city of Bakhmut.
