IN JUNE 2020, after the murder of George Floyd and the global anti-racist protests that followed, the National Police Chief’s Council and the College of Policing announced the launch of a race action plan to create an anti-racist police service that better serves Black people in Britain due to the starkness of the racial disparities present in policing’s interactions with Black communities.
Almost two years later, the first version of that plan was released by police on 24 May 2022, it is subject to this publicThis programme needs to be different. The police must listen to those who have the experience and expertise to create effective and long standing systemic change. The Independent Scrutiny and Oversight Board was formed to provide overview and external scrutiny of the Action Plan Programme.
In order for the ISOB to fulfil our scrutiny role, we in turn need to be accountable to you, our communities. Therefore we invite you to attend our Accountability Forum launch event on Saturday 23 July 2022, 10am – 1pm which will be held online via ZoomWe really want to hear from people of Black heritage and the full range of voices of those dedicated to anti-racism work, police transformation.
